A few weeks ago I had the honor of being in the delivery room for my the birth of my wonderful friend Ashley’s fourth child. In the days leading up to the big day, I was so nervous, waiting for any news or updates. Finally the induction night arrived and she was to go in at 12:30am to begin the induction. Well the entire night I lay next to my phone waiting for the “call” to come but it wasn’t until around 7am that I heard from her. I made arrangements for my kids to be taken to school and off to Winnie Palmer I went!
I arrived just after Ashley had received her epidrual thank goodness! We laughed and joked for a what seemed like minutes but it was more like 3 hours. Then her face and demeanor completely changed and I knew it was almost time. Her Doctor came in and said she was ready to go. I almost passed out from the nerves! I got sick to my stomach, heart started racing. I could barely stand the anticipation. This was all new to me, I had a C-section so I had no idea what to expect. You know what you see on TV? Yeah that didn’t happen. No screaming, no stress just two pushes and poof there was baby Sydney! I was so amazed at my friend and her total calmness through it all. Granted it was her fourth child, so she has some experience but still..not a bit of nervousness.
Birth photography is something that I would love to offer, but just due to the on call nature of this type of session, it’s very difficult with the kids and a husband who travels and works all the time. It was amazing though, and I am totally ready for the next one if it happens to work out!
Big congrats to my friend Ashley and her entire family on the newest addition. She’s beautiful and perfect in every way!
